Zebrafish (Danio rerio) are a good experimental model to investigate gene expression during early animal development. Many
stable transgenic zebrafish lines now express jellyfish green
fluorescent protein (GFP) genes under tissue-specific
promoters. Because GFP expression can be observed in live embryos and adult,
these transgenic zebrafish provided a powerful tool in developmental
analysis.
